Buy a Brick for the Memorial Walkway
Some news from the Freedom Bridge Memorial Brick Committee:
On July 4 through July 6, the Memorial Brick Committee will be manning a booth at the brand new Wal-mart Supercenter to promote the sale of bricks for the Memorial Walkway along the future Havasu Freedom Bridge. During that time only, you’ll recieve $10 off of your order.
Either stop by Wal-Mart on those days, or visit www.havasufreedombridge.com/bricks for more information. And if you can’t make it out on the 4th through the 6th, don’t worry because throughout the entire month of July, there is a promotion for $5 off each brick. You can also call 877-202-8215 with orders or questions.
Second Bridge to Lake Havasu City’s “ISLAND”
A website has been established to help fund and forge the way for the second bridge to our island. The need for a second bridge has arisen over the past few decades as the amount of traffic over our much loved London Bridge has increased.
Check out the website at www.HavasuFreedomBridge.com. At this site, there’s a nice little video on the history of the London Bridge, the necessity for a second bridge, and about the way that they plan to fund the construction of the bridge without additional taxpayer outlay.
It’s also neat to see where the bridge would be located – photos on the site illustrate the proposed location and how it will connect off of London Bridge Road just west of Highway 95 by Mesquite.
On 5/12/08 it was announced that two new flagpoles, donated by volunteers, will be placed on the Bridgewater Channel – on either side of the location of where the new second bridge – “The Freedom Bridge” will be located.
I’ll continue to keep you posted with any news I hear about progression of the project. If you’d like to help fund the bridge – you can buy a brick to be used in the Memorial Parkway on the website www.HavasuFreedomBridge.com
