It’s time for this year’s annual Winterfest celebration.  Each year on uptown Main Street (the area of McCulloch Boulevard between Smoketree Avenue and Acoma Boulevard) a large number of vendors set up booths in a two day long celebration.

This year over 260 vendors will display artwork, jewelry, home decor and ceramic wares, and more.  The event draws a large crowd each year, and there are kid’s events too to make it a fun time for everyone. 

Winterfest will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday, and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday. 

Free Admission, Parking available off Mesquite Avenue behind McCulloch Blvd Businesses and in lots west of Smoketree AVe.  Havasu ARea Transit will offer free rides into the Uptown Main Street district on Saturday.

The holiday season is upon us!  Whether you’re shopping for Christmas, Hanukkah, or another holiday, or the poor folks whose birthdays fall near one of these big holidays, it’s pretty likely that you might be doing some of your shopping on-line this year.

While that’s a great timesaver, and there are some pretty good deals out there, please also remember to support your local businesses.

There are a number of options for shopping available in Lake Havasu City, and the options have grown this year too, with the addition of the new regional mall The Shops at Lake Havasu.  A lot of the stores are now open in the mall and ready for you, and since they’re so new, there’s not a huge crowd to wait behind in line. 

Don’t forget the other quality stores in town too!  As a former restaurant owner, I know how dependent local business owners are on local traffic.  Support your local businesses!

I apologize for the delay in a post this week.  It’s been a crazy and hectic week – working on wrapping up some projects, starting new projects and trying to finish up a new Concierge Service package that includes all of my preferred partners in real estate related and construction services in Lake Havasu City.

I just wanted to let you know about a new website I found to review things on.  I’ve created a profile on there – and I’m reviewing all of my favorite restaurants and establishments.

On the last friday of every month, one of our local stores in Lake Havasu City hosts a fun event called Margarita Nights. During the hours of 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm every last friday, Mexidona hosts Margaritas, great music, and chips and salsa -  plus 25% off on all purchases that night! 

All of their merchandise is from Guadalajara, Mexico; way down in Central Mexico.  They have over 200 vendors that they purchase their merchandise from!  They have a great sales team who also offers home interior design.  You can have them come over to your home and give you suggestions for interior design!

If you have the chance to stop by on the last friday of every month, it should be a great time.  The next one they are hosting is on Friday, June 27, 2008.

I just recieved an email with an idea for something to do or take a date to on Wednesdays in Lake Havasu…

J’s Cigar Bar is hosting a Wine Tasting every Wednesday evening between 5 – 7pm.  The email says they recommend calling to RSVP at 928-680-2655.  They’re located on main street at 2038 McCulloch Blvd N, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86403 below Maddogs Bar & Grill.

The new mall in Lake Havasu city is here right at the north end of town!  We can remember driving by “The Centre Regional Mall” signs on State Road 95 coming into town from Interstate 40 for a number of years.  While it was just a vision then, it’s here now and it’s exciting to see.  Two of the main anchors are already open – JC Penney and Dillards opened this spring.  The new Super Wal-Mart is slated to open soon.  The other mini-anchor stores – Petsmart, Michael’s and a bookstore are all going to be in place too.  UltraStar Cinemas is opening a 10 theater movie complex with stadium seating and are promising a great movie viewing experience.  They also have room to expand for another 4 screens!  There will be a number of retailers in the space – clothing stores, restaurants, beauty stores and more!  It’s not just a “Someday the mall will be built here” thing anymore – it’s a reality.  I think it’s a sign that despite the negative media about the economy of our country – Lake Havasu City is here to stay.  It’s a community that will continue to grow, and it’s going to just keep getting better and better.
